Summer Student – Medical Receptionist Temporary (9 Weeks) | Up to 30 Hours per Week

Canada Summer Jobs Funded Position

The Norfolk Family Health Team (NFHT) is seeking a motivated and friendly Summer Student to join our team as a Medical Receptionist. This is an excellent opportunity for a high school or post-secondary student interested in gaining experience in a healthcare environment while supporting patient care and clinic operations.

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Position Summary

The Summer Student Medical Receptionist will support front desk operations and assist with administrative duties in a busy primary care setting. This role provides valuable exposure to healthcare operations and patient interaction.

Duration

  • Temporary Summer Position (9 weeks)
  • Up to 30 hours per week
  • Start date: Summer 2026 (flexible)

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and check-in patients in a professional and friendly manner
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Assist with scanning, filing, and organizing documents
  • Support administrative tasks for clinical and administrative staff
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Currently enrolled in High School, College, or University
  • Interest in or currently studying in the healthcare field preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional, reliable, and organized
