The Norfolk Family Health Team (NFHT) is seeking a motivated and tech-savvy Summer Student to join our team as a Digital Enabler. This is an excellent opportunity for a college or university student interested in healthcare, technology, and improving access to digital health tools for patients and providers.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
Position Summary
The Summer Student Digital Enabler will support patients and staff in using digital health tools and technology. The successful candidate will assist with onboarding patients to virtual care platforms, patient portals, and other digital health resources while promoting digital literacy and improving access to care.
Duration
- Temporary Summer Position (9 weeks)
- Up to 30 hours per week
- Start date: Summer 2026 (flexible)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with accessing and navigating digital health tools (e.g., patient portals, virtual care platforms)
- Provide one-on-one support to patients with limited digital literacy
- Support staff with basic technology troubleshooting
- Assist with digital onboarding initiatives and patient education
- Develop simple guides or instructional materials for patients and staff
- Support quality improvement initiatives related to digital access
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in College or University
- Preference given to students studying in Health Sciences, Information Technology, Business, Communications, or related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and digital platforms
- Ability to explain technical information in a simple and friendly manner
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Interest in healthcare and improving patient access to services
