Below you will find all of the information you need to know about the Talk-In Clinic.

What Is Talk-In? 

  • A free and voluntary service.
  • No referral is required and you do not need a Health Card or family physician.
  • Up to 3 60-minute counselling/therapy sessions available for adults aged 18 and over who live or work in Norfolk County who are seeking support with their mental health struggles or with service / systems navigation.
  • A trained mental health professional will meet with individuals, couples or families to explore and address immediate issues and will work collaboratively with participants to specify goals, identify strategies and potential solutions, develop a plan for next steps and make referrals to longer-term programs, as needed.
  • Appointments are approximately 60 minutes in length. Couples and family counselling will be assigned 90 minutes.
  • Sessions are by appointment only and are offered Mondays 9am-4pm and Tuesdays 9am-12pm,
    **Temporary hours until May 1, 2026 include Wednesdays 11am-2pm and Thursdays 10am-2pm.**

NOTE:  While support will be provided to those experiencing addiction, services will not be provided to those who are actively under the influence of alcohol or illicit substances.

Important Information:

  • All participants must comply with the NFHT Code of Conduct when accessing the Talk-In Clinic.
  • Counsellors do not provide court letters or reports for Talk-In participants.
  • Participants will be provided with a written record of their session and will be responsible for following up on resources or referrals. Follow-up will not be done by Talk-In staff.
  • Talk-In is not appropriate for individuals who are in crisis. If you are experiencing a crisis and require immediate support, please call CAST at 1-866-487-2278 or St. Leonard’s Crisis Line at 1-866-811-7188.
