Norfolk Older Adults and Healthy Aging
Functional, Independence and Power Program
Are you 65+? Have you had a fall or have a fear of falling? This 8-week program is offered to the older adult population in our community. It includes education on nutrition for bone health, medications and falls, foot care and foot wear, physical fitness and body mechanics, strategies for safety in the home and community, and social connectivity. All sessions will include instruction of simple exercises to improve strength, endurance, and balance.

About
The program is FREE to all participants. It will be held once per week for 8 weeks. Instructors will include Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Pharmacist, Social Workers, and Registered Kinesiologist.
Upon completion of the program
Participants will have a strong understanding of techniques to stay safe in their home and community. They will develop a collection of exercises to continue in their home to maintain general strength, endurance, and balance. Participants will be assessed for functional strength before and at the conclusion of the program. This program aims to benefit the older adult by developing their strength, endurance, and balance, and establish a foundation for long-term health and mobility.

FREE Exercise Group for Older Adults
Do you want to get out of the house and socialize with other older adults in the community? Do you want to learn how to maintain strength, endurance, and balance in order to stay on your feet and stay safe in your environment?
Come join us for FREE weekly exercise classes with a focus on strength, endurance, and balance in a safe and welcoming environment. Classes include sitting and standing options, are COPD friendly, are instructed by a Registered Kinesiologist, and are appropriate for all levels of ability.
Individualized Falls prevention programming and safe aging in place
Do you want to learn how to improve your strength, endurance, and balance in order to stay safe in your home and community and prevent falls? Our goal is to help you safely age in place.
